From the field

The work, as it actually looks.

A class of children in red ZARA Charity uniforms in their classroom at the Moshi Kids Centre, beneath a wall poster setting out the charity's mission.

The Maasai pre-school classroom building in the Ngorongoro highlands — a red single-storey block with solar panels on its roof, children gathered in a circle on the grass outside.

Roof-mounted solar panels on a rural school building, the array that powers its classrooms and evening study sessions.

Women in yellow ZARA Charity shirts counting and recording banknotes at a table during a savings-group meeting.

Rows of pale green beehives standing in a meadow of yellow wildflowers near Karatu, with two Maasai beekeepers walking between them.

Two people kneeling in bare soil, easing an indigenous seedling out of its nursery bag and into a newly dug planting hole.

A cleanup team loading sacks of waste carried down off the mountain onto a pickup truck, with Kilimanjaro on the skyline behind them.

A Mount Kilimanjaro Porters Society volunteer watches from the foreground as a line of cleanup volunteers in blue shirts stands in the shallows along the Tanzanian coast. His shirt reads “Together we can conserve environment for sustainable tourism”.

A long line of women waiting outside a community building, each carrying a sack, at a ZARA Charity distribution day.

A large open-sided community hall with a green roof standing in open Ngorongoro grassland, with several hundred Maasai adults and schoolchildren gathered in a line outside it.

Visiting travellers sitting with a young child in a red school uniform, who is holding a tree seedling ready to plant.

The ZARA Charity staff and volunteer team photographed together on the steps outside the Moshi office.

Zainab Ansell speaking at a community tree-planting day, holding a seedling in its nursery bag, surrounded by residents and partner volunteers in MKPS shirts each holding a young tree.

Supporters and community members walking together along a road behind a ZARA Charity banner during an awareness walk.

The lead pack of runners on the road during the Kilimanjaro Marathon, a support vehicle alongside them.

Young children in red tops and blue uniforms standing together in an early-years classroom with letters painted on the wall behind them.
