Travel with Purpose

shape
One business, two purposes

Tourism that leaves something behind.

ZARA Tanzania Charity grew out of tourism. It was founded in 2009 to help extend the benefits of tourism to local communities, and the travel businesses founded by Zainab Ansell are where that idea began.

How it works

Four ways a journey can help.

Give at the point of booking

A safari, climb or lodge booking can carry an optional gift attached to a named project.

Visit the project you funded

Add a project visit to your itinerary, a real stop with the community, arranged in advance and on their terms.

Fundraise for a climb

Climbing Kilimanjaro? Friends and family can sponsor your climb and the money supports ZARA projects.

Stay a supporter afterwards

A traveller who gave is recognised, thanked and told what happened next.

In partnership

Kijani Pamoja

Kijani Pamoja, Swahili for “green together”, is a tree-planting initiative of The Kilimanjaro Project and a named ZARA partner. Giving goes to The Kilimanjaro Project directly, not through this site, so it is their scheme, their trees and their reporting. Ours is the invitation.

For companies

CSR that survives a due-diligence question.

Corporate partners get a named project, a reporting pack with sourced figures, and the option to bring a team out to see the work. Request the partnership pack.

The charity keeps its own board and its own accounts. The travel businesses are named here so the relationship is on the page rather than inferred.
